MIRI: The renovation of Petroleum Museum Sarawak at Canada Hill is scheduled to be completed this August.

The renovations, which involve the installation of an energy saving air conditioning system, are fully funded by the Sarawak government at a cost of RM1.1 million.

According to Assistant Minister of Tourism, Art and Culture Datuk Sebastian Ting, the work is 70 percent completed.

“The Covid-19 pandemic has caused the project to be delayed,” he said. Prior to that, the renovations were supposed to be completed in May this year.

The museum, which officially opened in 2005, has been closed since January 29 this year for renovations.

“We are also looking into increasing the facilities and exhibit items at the museum,” added Ting.
