KUCHING: It was an early Christmas present for top students from SMK Batu Lintang, SMK Green Road, Chung Hua Middle School No. 3 and Chung Hua Middle School No. 4 when they received the Naim Foundation Academic Excellence Awards recently.

Part of the Naim Foundation’s community outreach programme, the awards seek to recognise students who have demonstrated good academic performance and also well-rounded students overall. A total of 17 secondary schools in Sarawak are currently under the programme.

Naim’s Head of Corporate Communications, Caroline Yeo said besides promoting academic excellence among students, the awards emphasise the need for perseverance in life.

“We are defined not only by what we do, but also by our strength of character. Do not be afraid of failures as they are our teachers – it is not about how you fail, but how you rise from it.

“To all who have done well, our heartiest congratulations. For those who did not, believe in yourself and try harder. There is a hero in all of us. We wish you all the best in moving forward,” Yeo remarked.
