KUCHING: Naim Group of Companies have raised over RM67,000 for various charitable organisations and churches in Bintulu recently through its first Christmas Charity Bazaar at Naim Bintulu Paragon.

The bazaar, which ended on Dec 23, attracted huge crowds to the mall where numerous interesting festive activities were held throughout the nine-day event.

These activities included carolling, choir singing, balloon sculpture giveaways, ballet performances, and live charity concerts featuring the renowned Nading Rhapsody, Jerry Kamit and Zee Avi.

According to Naim regional general manager for Bintulu, Abang Mahathir Mohamed, the Bintulu people were especially interested in the benefit concerts.

“The music goers were thrilled to see the Sarawak-born artistes, who have achieved so much in the international music industry, performed in Bintulu.

“We have always had great admiration and appreciation for local talents and we are glad to be able to provide this platform where they could entertain the local people and at the same time benefit those who are less fortunate,” he said.

In its bid to continue to create awareness of the importance of “giving”, Naim also organised a blood donation drive at its mall and managed to raise 21 pints for the local hospital.

“After all it’s the season of giving, and we wanted to do what we can to help foster a better and more generous community through all the charitable events,” Mahathir said.

He also thanked the public who supported its Giving Tree campaign which managed to gather a total of 270 gifts for orphans and children born with autism. The gifts consist of back-to-school supplies and books presented to the designated charity bodies during its closing ceremony on Sunday.

Also present at the event were BDA general manager Rodziah Morshidi and Naim deputy managing director Christina Wong.
