KUCHING: Federal Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri called on Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg at the latter’s office in Wisma Bapa Malaysia today.
She said the main purpose of the meeting was to inform the chief minister about a proposal by the ministry to elevate Kuching as a city under the Unesco Creative Cities Network (UCCN).
She added that the chief minister was also informed about the development projects undertaken by her ministry for Sarawak.
“The main purpose of our courtesy call is to inform the chief minister about a proposal from the Federal Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry (Motac) to elevate the city of Kuching as a creative city.
“Secondly was to update on development projects assisted by Motac, land applications for Motac agencies and how we can help more effectively in the state as well as some matters related to tourism,” she said.
During the meeting, the chief minister pointed out the potential that Sarawak products have and ways to develop tourism in the state.
Also present was State Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.
