KUCHING: Batang Sadong incumbent Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri has remained tight-lipped on whether she will be renominated as the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate to defend her seat in the 15th General Election (GE15).

When met by reporters after the 6th Malaysia Tourism Council (MTC) Gold Awards at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here yesterday (Oct 22), she said she had no clue yet on the matter.

On whether she thinks she will be renominated, the caretaker Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture said, “I don’t know. Later… If not, there will be no surprises.”

When pressed further on the preparation for facing the election, she said, “I have no idea. Only after I have been nominated, then you (reporters) ask me again.”

Nancy is a member of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) and has been a three-term MP for Batang Sadong since winning in the 2008 general election.

She defended the seat with a majority vote of 11,260 in the 2013 general election, defeating Parti Keadilan Rakyat’s (PKR) Mohamad Jolhi.

In the 14th General Election, she defeated and won a majority vote of 12,328 in a two-way fight against Othman Mustapha @ Mos of PKR and Asan Singkro of Parti Islam SeMalaysia (PAS).
