KUCHING: State Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for Kapit for the 14th General Election (GE14), Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi is confident of winning the Kapit parliamentary seat.

“This is my fifth time contesting in the election, and I am thankful enough for the opportunity to fight again for the Sarawak people’s right,” he said.

He added that he is confident in winning the seat as he won the GE13.

“Our Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Johari Tun Openg wants Sarawak to be developed in digital economy and this means when I am nominated as the candidate, I am still relevant and capable in realising what our CM wants for Sarawak,” he said.

Nanta said this when speaking to reporters after attending the press conference in conjunction with the announcement of the state BN candidates by the Chief Minister at Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Headquarters, Jalan Bako, in Kuching yesterday.

“I also welcome other party candidates to contest in Kapit as we are in a democracy country and that is their rights to take part in the election,” he pointed out,

Nanta said he will continue on what he has done before and will give more focus on the people’s needs and development needs in the rural area such as in Kapit.

“All this while, there were a lot of achievements we have done such as the roads, electricity and water supply.

“Although the roads, electricity and water supply coverage is not 100 per cent, we have improved and we want to do more,” he stressed.

He said he will put more attention on not only infrastructure development but also on strategies and approaches on how to upgrade and lift up the socioeconomic level of the rural people.

“This is to ensure that we can increase their income according to our mission to achieve a developed state and high income nation,” Nanta added.

He also said that with the establishment of the Upper Rajang Development Agency (URDA) it will focus on the strategies to upgrade the locals socioeconomic not only in Kapit parliamentary but also in Hulu Rajang and Kanowit areas.
