Nasi Hensem

KUCHING: Local food seller, Aini Salamiah Osaha believes in being creative when marketing her products.

The ‘Nasi Hensem’ seller says creativity is very important to enable traders to attract customers’ attention.

In addition to emphasising product variety, she also ensures that all the food she sells are made only from high quality ingredients.

Nasi hensem is a set of meals consisting of Aini’s homemade flavoured rice along with crispy fried chicken (either thigh or breast parts) — and most importantly, it is an affordable meal that costs just RM6.

Aini said the idea to produce nasi hensem came from her sister since the movement control order (MCO) was re-implemented.

“Since I had lost my job following the re-implementation of the MCO, I agreed to my sister’s proposal and collaborate with my niece Nurain Jasmi about a month ago to start this business with a capital of RM100.

“Although it is still newly introduced, customer’s response to nasi hensem is very encouraging,” she told our reporter.

When asked why she named the product nasi hensem, she pointed out that it sounds unique as well as able to attract customers’ attention.

Aini said due to safety factors (fear of being infected with Covid-19), she decided to operate from home throughout the MCO period and also provide delivery services for the areas around Petra Jaya.

She intends to expand the business in the future.
