LUNDU: The peopleare reminded to uphold the national principles (Rukun Negara) as it is a pillar for national unity, Tanjung Datu assemblywoman Datuk Amar Jamilah Anu said.

“With Rukun Negara, everything was arranged on the basis that our people always respect each other.

“It would be useless for us to be proud of being Malaysians without having integrity and mutual respect for each other,” she said when officiating at a Merdeka @ Komuniti programme held at Putra Sentosa PLKN Camp, Sematan.

Jamilah said the national principles should become the guide for Malaysians to live together in an independent and harmonious country despite consisting of various colours and creed.

She commended the organisers of the programme which aimed at instilling the value to patriotism and love for the country.

“If possible, we want many more young people and youths involved in such programmes.

“We do not want the values ​​of belonging and unity to be eroded,” she added.

Also present at the ceremony were Lundu district officer Gustian Durani and officers from the Sarawak Information Department.
