KUALA LUMPUR: The National Registration Department (NRD) today launched ‘JPN eSERVICES’, an online system to enhance services offered.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said with the new system in place, the public could now apply online for JPN documents such as registration of births, retrieval of birth records, MyKad application for children aged 12, retrieval of MyKad records and marriage registration application.

“The ministry assures that the personal and sensitive data handled through the online JPN eSERVICES would remain secure and safe.

“I urge Malaysians to make use of the system because it is a good initiative to transform the government’s service delivery system to become more efficient and user-friendly,” he said at the launch, which was broadcasted live on the ministry’s official Facebook page today.

Hamzah said as of March this year, a total of 41,816 individuals have used the JPN eServices.

He said as of March, the NRD had recorded the personal information of over 30 million individuals, and the government had also agreed to implement the National Digital Identity initiative, known as Digital ID.

“The Digital ID would serve as a Verifiable Platform of Trust that would benefit the private and public sectors for identification purposes when online digital transactions are performed,” he said, adding the initiative would benefit Malaysians and permanent residents. – Bernama
