KUCHING: Religious and racial harmony must be preserved to maintain continuous peace in Sarawak

Tupong assemblyman, Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman has urged everyone to not spread racial sentiments and to use them as political models.

“It is extremely dangerous; therefore, we need to ensure unity is preserved in Sarawak.

“We should preserve it, we should work hard to ensure that we can preserve it because these actions by irresponsible parties should not happen,” he said.

He was speaking to the reporters during a press conference after his debate speech for the Supply Bill (2023) 2022 during the fourth day of the 19th State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting yesterday.

He stressed that this could escalate and invite other unnecessary reactions which could affect the harmony in the state.

“I call on all parties to please stop sending out statements which cause disharmony because it is sensitive and causes a reaction which we do not want to happen.

“We just focus on working together to ensure unity. Otherwise, it will be a never ending process. We do not contribute to the escalation of the sentiments played by irresponsible people,” he added.
