KUCHING: The needs of the constituents in Murum are being addressed by its assemblyman through visits and dialogue sessions.

Kennedy Chukpai Ugon recently visited Ulu Jelalong, Tubau to assess the people’s needs.

He visited Rumah Ulin, Ulu Jelalong to monitor the progress of the Rural Electricity Supply Project Grid Line (RES-Last-Mile) as well as Rumah Berain Ak Ugal, Ulu Jelalong to attend to the constituents.

“I agreed to help them through the Minor Rural Project – Sarawak Poor Home Improvement Project (MRP-PPRMS) to supply longhouse roofing materials which they will install on ‘gotong-royong’ basis later.

“Let us all pray that everything goes smoothly,” he said in a Facebook post last Friday.

Chukpai said he also visited Rumah Jantom Jampang, Ulu Jelalong where he had a dialogue with the people.

“We listened to their village security and development committee (JKKK) and told them to submit written applications to our community service centre and also to the relevant government agencies,” he said.

He also visited the new jetties at Rumah Jantom and Rumah Berain Ugal which was completed in February 2021.

“The visit aims at explaining current issues including the Covid-19 situation and the importance of vaccination to prevent its spread,” he said.

Also present during the visit were a political secretary to the chief minister, Micheal Mujan Lihan; community leaders, longhouse heads and officers from the Murum community service centre.
