KUCHING: Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan presented a Hari Raya aid at a ceremony organised by the Limbang Islamic Welfare Trust Board (Lakil) yesterday.
The aid was given to representatives of Imams (mosque leaders) and Bilals/Muazins (The person who issues the call to prayer) across Limbang, orphans, single mothers and Lakil members.
Awang Tengah said that the aid to mosque officials such as for the Imam and the Bilal/Muazin is in appreciating those involved in upholding the Islamic syiar (greatness) during these difficult times.
“In facing Covid-19, I urge all of you to play your part and to cooperate well with other government agencies,” he said in a brief address.
The deputy chief minister said that due to the current situation and with the conditional movement control order (CMCO), only representatives of the aid recipients are allowed to attend the ceremony.
“This is a sacrifice that we have to make due to the CMCO. We must practise social distancing and good personal hygiene. May all of us overcome this threat,” he added.
Also present were Agriculture Assistant Minister Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail and Batu Danau assemblyman Paulus Palu Ngumbang.
