KUCHING: A total of 100 persons from the B40 group in Kampung Paya Mebi, Jalan Landeh have received food from a welfare organisation, Kuching Food Aid.

Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman Lo Khere Chiang said he was touched by the effort of the organisation.

“This is the kind of effort that I appreciate and thankful for,” he said when met by the press after officiating at the distribution of the food items at the village on Saturday (Mar 27).

“Kuching Food Aid is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) whose success in distributing food aid I have seen. It is not every day that we get to see an NGO helping people by giving food.”

He also said that the organisation has achieved a lot by getting food donations from supermarkets and other business organisations for distribution to needy families.

“The organisation has gained a lot trust from the business community. It is not easy to build that kind of relationship.

“Overtime, the organisation also gained the trust and confidence of the public,” he said.

The Batu Kitang assemblymen also believe that everyone can contribute to help people who are in need.

“I believe that if everyone helps, we can contribute even a little bit. Those who have more contribute more and those who don’t have a lot contribute less. If we can work on that principle, it is more than enough to feed everybody,” Lo said.

Lo hopes that everyone in Sarawak can help one another during hard times.
