MUKAH: The village extension scheme (SPK) which provides residential lots will also come with various basic facilities under new government initiatives.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said under the new initiatives, SPK would be provided with tar-sealed roads, drainage system, water supply, electricity supply, and even telecommunications facility in certain areas.

He added this would make SPK more orderly, comfortable and well-planned.

“The cost of ground filling, construction of tar-sealed roads and drainage amounting to between RM100,000 and RM120,000 per lot will be borne by the government,” he said when officiating at the presentation of land titles and approval letters for residential lots (SPK) in Tellian constituency at Kingwood Resort, Km15 Jalan Mukah-Balingian on Sunday (Nov 21).

A total of 39 individuals received land titles for Kampung Penat, Oya (Kampung Tradisonal), and 20 individuals for Ulu Sungai Judan and Sungai Napeh, Mukah areas, while 124 approval letters for residential lots (SPK Petanak Phase 1, Judan and Penat).

He added another new government initiative in the Resettlement Scheme (SPS) and SPK was the reduction of premium rate by 50 per cent to all residential lots at SPS and SPK.

According to him, the rate of premium would not be more than RM2,500 per lot, and could be paid in installments.

Awang Tengah, who is also Minister of Urban Development and Natural Resources II, added the initiatives were aimed at lessening the burden of people with low income, in paying the premium.

The International Trade and Industry, Industrial Terminal and Entrepreneurial Development Minister also handed over financial aid amounting to RM5,292, 648 (collaboration between AgroBank-Mintred) for the Sarawak Micro Credit Scheme.

Assistant Minister Minister of International Trade and Industry, Industrial Terminal and Entrepreneurial Development Datuk Naroden Majais, Land Survey deputy director Awang Zamhari awang Mahmod, acting International Trade and Industry, Industrial Terminal and Entrepreneurial Development permanent secretary Sayed Ismail Sayed Hashim, Mukah Division Land and Survey superintendent Emmy Zurina Omar, Mukah Division Resident Hamdiah Bakir and former Tellian assemblyman Yussibnosh Balo also attended the event.
