KUCHING: Youth organisations nationwide are urged to come up with fresh approaches to attract the interest of the younger generation in entrepreneurship.
Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said youth and young entrepreneurs could work with the government to restore the nation’s economy.
“In line with the developments of today, youth organisations, too, need to create a new platform that is more positive and sustainable.
“This will not only be able to prevent social issues but will improve and elevate the economic status of youth through entrepreneurship,” he said in a Facebook post yesterday.
He was commenting on the National Youth Day celebration which was yesterday and coincided with the International Youth Day designated by the United Nations.
“With the National Youth Day’s theme this year, which is ‘This Decade, Your Decade’, I also hope that the youth will be able to adapt to the new normal after the Covid-19 pandemic.
“I also hope that youth organisations will come up with new approaches to garner the interest of youth and young entrepreneurs to propel the nation’s economy.
“This is because youth are among the parties given special attention under the economic stimulus packages which were announced previously by the federal government,” he said.
