KUCHING: The Medan Selera Daro food court has become a new landmark and tourist attraction in Daro town.
“Today we have created another history, especially in Pekan Daro because today is the first day that Medan Selera Daro is fully operational,” Daro assemblyman Safiee Ahmad told the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) on Thursday (July 1).
Earlier, he visited Medan Selera Daro to present the keys to the traders as well as donate food handling kits and disinfectants to the operators.
Safiee hoped that the government’s efforts to set up the food court, which houses 25 stalls, would benefit businesses, and allow traders to increase their income.
In the meantime, he said he would look at future proposals to improve the facilities at the food court based on the needs of the traders.
“Together with the district officer, who is also the chairman of the Matu and Daro District Councils, we will see what we need to do to improve this food court.
“We have also approved an allocation to build a children’s playground.”
Later on Thursday, Safiee monitored the implementation of the Rural Transformation Programme projects at Kampung Nangar, Kampung Badong and Kampung Pancho.
He was accompanied by the implementing agencies to ensure that the projects meet the required specifications.
Also present were representatives of Matu and Daro District Councils and community leaders.
