MUKAH: Pupils of Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Kampung Tellian here may have to wait until March next year to use the new buildings although 2021 school session will begin on Jan 20.

Tellian assemblyman Yussibnosh Balo said it is learned that SK Kampung Tellian new buildings would be operational only sometimes in March next year.

“It is learned that the building is pending approval from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba),” he told New Sarawak Tribune via WhatsApp today.

The former Balingian assemblyman was asked on the latest update of the RM16 million school project, which had been completed in December last year.

Meanwhile, a source from the contractor (Bispuri Sdn Bhd) when contacted via WhatsApp, said the Ministry of Education Malaysia has yet to issue CPC, while the local authority has not issued occupation permit (OP).

The contractor was asked whether the furniture, equipment and other facilities were all available and ready for use when the school session begins next year.

The new school buildings were located near the old semi-concrete one at Kampung Seri Tellian (Tellian Tengah), Jalan Tellian here.

The old school was declared unfit for occupation by the authorities about 17 years ago, and the pupils, teachers and supporting staff were ordered to move and ‘squat’ at SK Mukah near the town.
