New cases fall to below 100

KUCHING: Sarawak’s daily Covid-19 cases continue to drop with the recording of 98 new transmissions on Monday (Nov 29).

This was a substantial decrease from Sunday’s 158 cases, with the cumulative cases now at 250,622.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said 93 of the new cases were of categories 1 and 2  while five cases were of categories 3, 4 and 5.

“Of the total, 42 cases were in category 1, 51 in category 2, two cases in category 3, two cases in category 4 and one case in category 5,” it said in its daily Covid-19 update today (Nov 29).

The SDMC said Kuching registered the highest number of daily cases with 34, followed by Miri with 17 and Sibu with 12 cases.

“Meanwhile, Lawas registered 10 cases; Bintulu seven; Dalat five; Samarahan four; Limbang, Kanowit and Kapit two cases each and Matu, Song and Asajaya one case each.”

The committee said two death cases related to Covid-19 infections were also recorded from November 26.

“The first death case is of a 79-year-old woman from Samarahan who was a brought-in-dead (BID) case. She had a history of hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia, chronic kidney disease and heart disease.

“The second case involved a 78-year-old man from Kuching who died while receiving treatment at the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH). He  had comorbidities including hypertension, diabetes and heart disease,” it explained.

The committee said four active clusters remained in the state and none had reported any new cases.
