
KUCHING: Sarawak saw a spike in new positive COVID-19 cases on Saturday (Jan 29). It registered 29 new cases compared to 11 on Friday (Jan 28).
The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in its daily COVID-19 update statement today, said this brought the state’s case tally to 252,791.
It said that of these 29 new cases, nine were in category 1 (no symptoms), 19 were in category 2 (mild symptoms), and one was in category 3 (lung infection).
On the breakdown of cases according to district, the committee said nine of the new cases were reported in Sibu, five in Kuching, four in Kanowit, three in Miri, and two in Limbang.
Meanwhile, the districts of Bau, Samarahan, Sarikei, Betong, Subis, and Sri Aman each recorded one case.
No new deaths or clusters were reported by the SDMC today.
