New chicken ceiling price known soon

Date:

KUCHING: The Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi clarified that discussions and negotiations with industry players are currently underway to decide the ceiling price of chicken that should be placed later.

“We in the ministry have a role to play, so we are also involved in negotiations.

“This morning there was a meeting held in Kuala Lumpur where top KPDNHEP officials were also involved,” he told the reporters after officiating at the opening of the second One Stop Superstore outlet in Kuching Sentral here today.

On Friday, the government decided the price of chicken in the national market would not be floated.

Therefore, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said, the new ceiling price will be announced in the near future by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industries Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee.

The decision shows government’s concern towards the people so that they are not burdened by the pressure brought by the increasing present cost of living.
