SIBU: The alliance of Malaysian oath commissioners called Pertubuhan Gabungan Pesuruhjaya Sumpah Malaysia (PESUMA) has appointed Melinda Wong Kwong Hung as the Chief Coordinator of Commissioner for Oaths (CFOs) in Sarawak with effect from Mar 19.

The appointment which was announced during a tour programme which was held in Kuching on March 19 was followed by the presentation of a certificate of appointment to her by the guest of honour, Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap Yau Sin.

Among those present were PESUMA’s Supreme Committee members led by its chairperson Hazlin Mohamed together with the heads of various bureaus and the main committee.

According to Wong who is also in charge of the program in Sarawak, the objective of the program is to meet all CFOs in Sarawak, hold dialogue, introduce the main role of PESUMA in Malaysia and address the technical issues physically.

On PESUMA, she said it is a mega umbrella which helps to uphold professionalism and give legal support training and other activities for CFOs throughout Malaysia.

“PESUMA is simply a timeless and borderless support system assisting all CFOs in Malaysia. Timeless, in the sense that regardless of weekdays, weekends, days or nights, PESUMA is ever ready to help.

“Borderless means regardless of wherever CFOs in Malaysia, PESUMA is accessible to give the best professional assistance.

“Therefore PESUMA is available whenever and wherever CFOs need assistance. Besides, PESUMA also acts as a platform to channel issues and problems of CFOs to relevant bodies such as Unit Pesuruhjaya Sumpah and Chief Registrar of Federal Court, Palace of Justice, Malaysia”, she stated.

Pointing out that one great success of PESUMA is the increase of statutory fee (from RM4) and exhibit in the document (from RM2) to both RM10 from Jan 13, she said the old rate was not revised for 30 years since Mar 4, 1991.

She said the new fee was set after a careful study carried out by the government with the stakeholders and PESUMA as in a statement released by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reforms) Datuk Seri Azalina Osman Said on Jan 13, Putrajaya.
