KUCHING: A new Covid-19 cluster, dubbed the Baki Cluster, has been identified in Sarawak.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement on Saturday (Oct 24) said the addition of the newly declared cluster brings the number of active clusters in the state to three.

The other two clusters are the Bah Arnab Cluster in Kuching as well as Putra Cluster in Bintulu.

“Today (Oct 24), the State Health Department would like to declare one new cluster, the Baki Cluster in Kuching District.

“The case index to this cluster is Case 768 that was confirmed to be Covid-19 positive on Oct 18.

“A total of 68 contacts to this case have been screened. One of the contacts, Case 770 was found to be positive for Covid-19 on Oct 22 and three other contacts, namely Cases 774, 775 and 776 were found to be positive for Covid-19 on Oct 23.

“This brings the total number of cases in the Baki Cluster to five people including the index cases,” it said.
