New community cluster declared in Limbang

KUCHING: Sarawak reported the emergence of one new community cluster on Thursday (Sept 30).

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the Batu 8 Jalan Kubong Cluster involved residents of a longhouse at Batu 8, Jalan Kubong, Ulu Pandaruan in Limbang district.

Of the 229 people who were tested, 18 persons including the index case tested positive for Covid-19 whereas 211 are still awaiting test results.

All positive cases are now receiving treatment at the Limbang Hospital and Covid-19 Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) in the district.

On a lighter note, SDMC declared the end of six clusters, namely Long Maktub Cluster in Sebauh; Farm Cluster 0004 Kuala Baram in Marudi; Jalan Kilang Pending Cluster in Kuching; Jalan Bintulu-Bakun Cluster in Bintulu; Batu Kawa Supermarket Cluster in Kuching and Persiaran Silicon Cluster in Kuching, after no new cases were reported involving these clusters in the last 28 days.

As of Thursday (Sept 30), there were still 110 active clusters in the state, with nine clusters recording 25 new cases and the other 101 recorded no additional cases.
