New Covid-19 cases drop to 351

KUCHING: Sarawak’s positive Covid-19 cases took a downward trajectory with 351 new cases recorded today, a decline of 245 cases, compared to Saturday’s 596 cases.

This takes the cumulative cases to 299,936.

In its daily update the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said, three cases were recorded in Category 3 and two cases in Category 5.

Aside from that, a total of 147 cases were in Categories 1 and 199 in Category 2.

“Kuching topped the list with 117 cases, followed by Miri with 50; Sibu with 44; and Bintulu with 34 cases.

“Thirteen cases each were recorded in Sarikei and Limbang; 10 each in Serian and Kota Samarahan; seven in Mukah; and six cases in Lundu.

“Four cases each were recorded in Sri Aman, Simunjan, Marudi, Kabong and Subis; three each in Betong and Saratok; two each in Kapit, Daro, Pusa, Belaga, Bau and Song; and one each in Pakan, Tanjung Manis, Lubok Antu, Tatau, Sebauh and Beluru,” the committee said.

SDMC also disclosed that there was one COVID-19 fatality involving a 65-year-old woman who had high blood pressure, cancer and dyslipidemia.

The victim passed away on Apr 2 at the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) here.

In terms of non-compliance to the standard operating procedures (SOPs), Kuching police issued compound notices to six individuals for failing to register the MySejahtera before entering a premises.

This brings the total number of compounds issued by Sarawak police to 13,768.
