KUCHING: Meor Mohammad Shariffudin Meor Yahya will be carrying out his duties as the new Cooperative Commission of Malaysia (SKM) Sarawak director.
The outgoing director Basuini Ali handed over his duties to Shariffudin yesterday at Bangunan Sultan Iskandar, Jalan Simpang Tiga here, witnessed by SKM Kuala Lumpur Integrity Unit director Norhisyam Mohd Ali.
Basuini who is a Kuchingite held the director’s post for two years and one month. He had served with SKM since 1993 and SKM Kuala Lumpur for five years.
“During my 26 years of service with SKM, I have been transferred five times only. I was first assigned to Sibu in 2008.
“After that, I was assigned to Kuching in 2012 as the senior assistant director under Grade 48. I was then promoted as the deputy director in 2016 before I took over as SKM Sarawak director in 2018,” he told reporters, yesterday.
Basuini will be moving to Sabah as the SKM Sabah director under Grade E54.
The newly appointed SKM Sarawak director Shariffudin had previously held the SKM Perak deputy director’s post. He has been serving SKM since 1993.
He had also served at SKM Pulau Pinang, Perlis, Johor and Kuala Lumpur.
“I will continue to work on what has been planned by Basuini in line with the country’s National Entrepreneurship Policy 2030.
“What has been planned will be continued and improved. In terms of cooperative development, there are a lot that I have to learn as there are different cultures, logistics, demographic and others,” he said.
A corruption free oath taking ceremony was also held which was witnessed by Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Sarawak (MACC) director Mohd Razim Mohd Noor.
Also present were SKM Sarawak senior assistant director Norazlan Annuar and SKM executive
vice-president (management) Abas Abu Bakar.
