LAWAS: The establishment of Biro Pendidikan Majlis Islam Sarawak (BPP-MIS) is proof the Sarawak government’s commitment to the progress of Muslim children’s education in the state, according to Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.

In a text of speech read by Deputy Minister of Food Industry, Commodities and Regional Development Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail during the state-level Nuzul Al-Quran on Saturday (April 8), Awang Tengah said “BPP-MIS is also trying to build and expand a network of cooperation from academics, scientists, professionals and related agencies in order to be partners to mosque institutions.”

According to Awang Tengah, the agency not only assists the Sarawak Islamic Council in educating the ummah but also conducts various community-based initiatives in mosques or nearby schools to empower Muslims.

He also said the state government is always committed to taking the Quran as the main guide for safeguarding the faith and sharia of Muslims.
