KUCHING: Good news for SK Tan Sri Datuk Haji Mohamed in Taman Malihah here as it will have a new assembly hall soon.
Senior Minister of Works, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said the state government has approved an allocation of RM450,000 for the purpose.
“The project construction is awaiting approval of the Ministry of Education. Once it is approved, the construction will begin immediately.
“The project will be implemented by the Sarawak Public Works Department (PWD) and the hall can accommodate two badminton courts,” he said.
He added that once the project is completed, the facility will ease the process of learning and teaching especially for the school’s assembly.
“At present, they hold assemblies at the open-air compound but if it’s raining, it will be difficult to do so,” he said.
He told reporters this after handing over a completed covered walkway project under the rural transformation programme (RTP) at SK Tan Sri Datuk Haji Mohamed in Taman Malihah near Matang here on Sunday.
Although the project has been completed, the Petra Jaya MP said necessary upgrading works would be done to improve the walkway.
“We will work with the Sarawak PWD to study on how we can extend the walkway for the comfort of parents when sending off and picking up their children at the school,” he revealed.
Also present were Tupong assemblyman Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman, Sarawak PWD engineer Sahril Mat Nor, the school’s headmistress Fatimah Buang, Parent Teacher Association (PTA) chairman Yussri Sawani and deputy chairman Mohd Morshidi Muta.
