KUCHING: For fisherman Awang Termizi Awang Mahani, 39, no words could describe his gratitude after receiving a new house in time for the coming Hari Raya Aidilftri.

The new structure replaces his old container house in which he lived with his family.

He said Ramadan this time is very meaningful because of the new house.

“Thank God and thanks to the Pantai Damai constituency service centre for providing the house.

“I feel like I’m dreaming, but that’s what people say about Ramadan gifts,” he said when met at Kampung Jaya Bakti today (May 6).

Awang Termizi is one of the recipients of Rumah Sejahtera Pantai Damai. He said with in the new house, his children would have a better environment in which to do their school work.

Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Islamic Affairs and DBKU) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said the house was built at a cost of RM52,000. It has three rooms, a toilet and a bathroom.

“This is the third house we built after the ones in Kampung Buntal and Kampung Rampangi Phase 1.

“Two other houses are still under construction in Kampung Temedak and Kampung Rampangi Phase 1,” he said.

He hoped that the houses would provide comfort to the recipient families, especially the children who are still in school.

Also present at the handover was Kampung Jaya Bakti community leader Deris Bohari.
