BAU: A new road linking Kuching with Bau road is currently in its designing stage and work is expected to take off under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP).

Infrastructure and Ports Development Assistant Minister Datuk Julaihi Narawi said the proposed road, which is 24km from Mile 7 to Bau, had been approved by the Sarawak government.

“The ceiling value is RM240 million, and it will connect Bau and Kuching, to make it easier and convenient for road users,” he told reporters when met after officiating at the earth-breaking ceremony for the Tasik Biru Pedestrian Bridge yesterday.

He said apart from this development, other projects in the pipeline for Bau area would be the construction of a new district office complex, costing RM4mln, Tondong Bridge (RM10.8mln) and Buso Bridge (RM5mln).

“All the projects mentioned are for the people in Bau, and we in the state government understand your needs,” he assured.

“Our main agenda is to ensure the whole of Sarawak is connected, and I believe there is nobody other than Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) that can deliver these developments.

“We have the experience, we have the resources, we have a good team that can plan for the development in the state for the betterment of the people,” Julaihi pointed out.

He called on the people in Bau area to rally behind GPS and to ensure Tasik Biru continue to remain under GPS.

“Please, with your support, for our long-term future, please be with us. Show your greatest support to Datuk Henry Harry Jinep (Tasik Biru assemblyman).

“This is because we are the one that understands Sarawak better. We are the one who can think of the actual needs of Sarawak and its future,” he stressed.

Julaihi said the people should not vote for parties who only quarrelled among themselves and within the party itself.

“The best is still the GPS government, we know there is stability in GPS, why don’t we just focus on someone who can assist and develop Sarawak.”
