TATAU: The Minister in the Premier’s Office, Datuk Seri John Sikie Tayai is optimistic that the Kampung Dagang Tatau market site will bring about meaningful changes for the local community.

During the inauguration of the market yesterday, he emphasised its importance as an avenue for Tatau residents to generate income, encouraging them to take advantage of this opportunity to enhance their economic well-being, particularly for their families.

According to a press release by the Information Department, John hoped that the market site would be fully utilised by the residents, as currently many traders receive government assistance.

He also advised individual traders to apply for loans to expand their businesses.

During his visit, John also promoted the Tatau Craft Centre located at the old Tatau town. The centre was established to help residents sell handmade crafts. It also offers courses for residents to upgrade their craftsmanship skills.

Additionally, he also allocated a special grant of RM10,000 to build public toilets for the use of traders and visitors to the Kampung Tatau market site.
