KUCHING: The Sarawak Petroleum Contractors Association (Speca) aims to be a major player in Sarawak’s oil and gas industry through the establishment of Speca Consortium Sdn Bhd.

According to a report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Speca president Datuk Rahman Lariwoo expressed confidence that members of the consortium would be able to guide the growth of the industry based on their prior experience.

“My hope as the president of Speca Consortium Sdn Bhd is to become one of the giant companies in Sarawak’s oil and gas sector.

“I am fully confident in the ability of the members in the consortium carrying out works like giants Serba Dinamik or Sapura, as they were the backbone before who carried out works awarded to them,” he said in a press conference after chairing the association’s Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) today.

In this regard, Rahman hoped that the state government through Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (Petros) and major industry players would allow Speca and its members to be involved in the industry together.
