New Simunjan landmark to officially open Aug 20

SIMUNJAN: Esplanade Simunjan which is a new landmark in the area will be inaugurated by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg on Aug 20.

Built at a cost of RM1,244,781, the project involved two phases with the first phase commencing on November 6 in 2019 and completed on August 5 in 2020.

The second phase commenced works on September 25 in 2021 and was completed on January 21 this year.

According to a news report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS), Simunjan assemblyman Awla Dris together with Samarahan Division Resident Brahim Lumpu and several government agencies conducted an inspection visit to the Esplanade Simunjan on Tuesday (August 2).

The inspection was conducted ahead of the arrival of Abang Johari who will officiate at the official opening of the esplanade.

Esplanade Simunjan which was opened to the public on June 28 this year operates daily from 12 noon until 12 midnight.

Its open concept has the capacity to accommodate shop lots for various types of businesses including food and beverage, retail and busking among others.
