KABONG: The proposed boat terminal at Sungai Kampung Empelam will have to be built at a new site after the previous site was deemed unsuitable.
Kabong assemblyman Mohd Chee Kadir said the RM250,000 project was one of his 11 rural transformation programme (RTP) projects for 2021.
“Today’s visit is aimed at studying the new site before the project is implemented.
“After this, the project can be implemented as soon as possible for the benefit of the people in Kampung Empelam,” he said after visiting the new site in Sungai Kampung Empelam here, yesterday (Jan 19).
He explained that the location change was necessary as the old site was not suitable due to geographical factors, thus making it difficult to implement the project.
The project is being implemented by the Public Works Department (JKR).
Also present were Kabong district deputy officer Ahmad Sabree Salleh, JKR Saratok representative Adrian Linggie Manjan and Kampung Empelam village head Abdul Rashid Sibi.
