New Sungai Serindak Cluster declared in Selangau

KUCHING: One new cluster in Selangau was declared by the State Health Department on Saturday (Aug 7).

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the Sungai Serindak Cluster is a community cluster involving a longhouse located at Kilometre 98, Jalan Sibu-Bintulu, Sungai Serindak in Selangau district.

“A total of 35 individuals had been tested where 19 of them were positive including the index while 16 were found negative, and nine awaiting laboratory results.

“All the Covid-19 positive cases were admitted to Sibu Hospital, and Covid-19 quarantine and low-risk treatment centre (PKRC) in Sibu district for their isolation and further treatment,” said SDMC.

Meanwhile, the committee had also declared the end of three clusters namely Nyelutong Cluster in Betong district; Jalan Sagang Cluster in Bau district; and 35 Bintulu Cluster in Bintulu district after no new cases were recorded within 28 days.

As of Saturday, there were 83 active clusters in Sarawak with eleven clusters recording 60 new cases while 72 clusters recorded no additional cases.
