SARIKEI: Residents of Jalan Drahman Keria will get a new surau after the Surau Darul Huda construction project, which is now under development rapidly, is completed.

Costing RM500,000, the surau under the Rural Transformation Project (RTP), which began construction in December 2022, is scheduled for completion by the appointed contractor, WBN Construction, on June 7 this year.

Meanwhile, the longhouse Rumah Grace Nanie Stephen residents here are pleased that the 10-door long house construction project, which cost RM770,000, is now completed and just needs the electricity and water supply to be connected.

The official handover of the longhouse project by the contractor to its dwellers will be done on March 7 with the government agencies involved.

Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Datuk Len Talif Salleh on yesterday (March 3) conducted a working visit to review the completed and ongoing projects here.

Len who is also the Kuala Rajang assemblyman was satisfied with the current progress of the ongoing project aimed at providing comfort to the people in his constituency.

On the same note, residents of Rh Grace Nanie were very grateful to Len for his earnestness in implementing the project despite various issues that arose throughout the project.

Earlier, Len visited and reviewed the current progress of the Sarikei Al-Mutaqqin Mosque upgrading project and hoped that the project would be completed according to schedule.

Also present during the visit was Sarikei District Office Administrative Officer Ainur Yazmin, representatives from the Public Works Department (PWD) and community leaders.
