SIBU: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said he had fulfilled one of his promises to Sibu people pertaining to allocation of housing lots to cater for many extended families of the various villages.

He made the comment when speaking during his visit to Rumah Spektra Permata (RSP) project site in Kemuyang here on Wednesday (June 24).

A total of 813 housing lots meant for RSP in Kemuyang have been allocated and are ready to be developed. Out of these, 110 units were built by Housing Development Corporation (HDC). These are part of the 2,500 units RSP throughout Sarawak.

Developing these units of RSP is deemed necessary as they cater for many extended families from Kampung Datu, Kampung Hilir, Kampung Nyabor and Kampung Bandong here in Sibu.

In his speech Abang Johari said the state government was developing a new township here.

“I have fulfilled my promises for Sibu people, especially with the extension of Kampung here. Thus, we will link the Kemuyang Road right up to Jalan Teku Pasai Siong,” he said.

The 9km road to be constructed will link Kemuyang Road to Jalan Teku Pasai Siong and to Sibu town centre, he added.

Abang Johari explained that the road will be built under the 12th Malaysia Plan.

Apart from that, he also disclosed under the 12th Malaysia Plan, the government would also build Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman to avoid congestion.
