KUCHING: Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the construction of a new yard at Senari Port which is capable to accommodate 2,500 vehicles is on track for completion by the fourth quarter of this year.

Uggah, who is also Minister for Infrastructure and Ports Development (MIPD) said this during the handover ceremony of two quay cranes at Senari Port yesterday.

He reiterated that the Roll-On/Roll-Off (RoRo) Yard project is progressing smoothly, with physical progress currently at 49.19 per cent.

“The timely completion of this RoRo yard is crucial, especially before the Sejingkat Bridge project concludes, ensuring seamless operations for RoRo ships,” he said.

Uggah urged Kuching Port Authority (KPA) to explore opportunities by establishing additional RoRo yard to boost vehicle storage capacity up to 5,000 vehicles.

Spanning a 5-acre site at Senari Port, the new RoRo yard will replace the existing facility in Pending, currently handling around 3,000 vehicles monthly.
