KUCHING: A total of 100 officers and personnel from the 11th Battalion General Operation Force (GOF) took part in the spring cleaning (gotong-royong) programme held at a Christian cemetery in Kampung Sg Tapang here recently.

11th Battalion GOF Commander, Supt Soh Hock Seng (second row, centre) is posing with his men for a group photograph at a Christian cemetery in Kampung Sg Tapang.

Its commander, Supt Soh Hock Seng said the GOF was committed in holding various community programmes which aimed at fostering ties with members of the public.

He said the co-operation between the community and police had long established and should be strengthen further in line with the theme ‘Polis dan Masyarakat Berpisah Tiada’.

“The reaction from the local communities is positive and they took part in all the programmes we organised. I believe that by continuing to hold community activities and be close with them, the co-operation between the police and the local communities to combat crime and ensure peace and harmony in their respective areas can be enhanced,” he said when met in Kampung Sg Tapang yesterday.

He said this spring cleaning programme had become an annual event for GOF and the focus of the activity was not only to serve the community, but to preserve the cleanliness of the surroundings.

“This is how we contribute to the community. We hold community programmes and at the same time we carry out our duties to ensure peace and harmony,” Soh added.
