KUCHING: A total of 130 people from the public and private sectors partook in the winding up of the Sarawak Industry 4.0 TVET Forum organised by Sarawak Centre of Performance Excellence (SCOPE) on Thursday. In col laborat ion between Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Research Sarawak (MESTR) , Human Resourc e Development Fund (HRDF) and Centre of Technical Excellence (CENTEX), the Forum focused on re-positioning TVET in the context of transition Industry 4.0 that will act as a new catalyst to develop technical specialists and digital subject.

This initiative also served as a powerful tool for socio- economic development, particularly for the semi-professional groups and as a platform to allow direct engagement from industry players to discuss on digital advancing skills across sectors.

For the state, the TVET agenda has been synonymous ever since with the launch of the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE) in 2008, with the ambition to stimulate new innovation, start-up growth which is aligned with the state Digital Economy blue print by 2030. During the official launching of the Forum on Oct 19, State Secretary, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Morshidi Abdul Ghani opined that the TVET Industry 4.0 Forum was timely, as the sectors of industries were fast moving into operational technologies.

As such, he highlighted the need for all stakeholders of TVET to learn from their lessons learned of the industrial revolution to avoid the pitfalls and adopt operational and digital technologies which is a good fit for both the upstream and downstream industries in Sarawak.

Also highlighted during the Forum was the nine building blocks of Industry 4.0 mainly, Internet of Things; Data Analytics; Autonomous Robotics; Cloud; Cybersecurity ; Simul at ion; Additive Manufacturing; Augmented Reality and Integrated Manufacturing. Meanwhile, Chief Exeutive Officer of SCOPE, Dr Asleena Dato Haji Helmi mentioned that the Forum will be spin-off new digitalized in Industry 4.0 programme which aimed to create high-value job opportunities and enhancement.
