14 bodies get RM22,000 grants

KAPIT: Kapit MP Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi presented financial grants totalling RM22,000 to 14 bodies comprising non-governmental organisations (NGOs), local clubs and associations which took part in the Malaysia Day and Lantern Procession held in the Town Square here last year.

The Malaysia Day and Lantern Procession 2017 was organised by United Chinese Association (UCA) Kapit in collaboration with Muafakat Komuniti Malaysia Pekan Kapit.

The grant recipients were UCA Kapit the organiser of the Malaysia Day and Lantern Procession and Maufakat Komuniti Malaysia Pekan Kapit with each receiving RM5,000.

The other recipients were teams that took part in the event namely Kapit Land and Survey Department, Kapit Kwang Tung Association, Kapit Foochow Association, Kapit Coffee Shop and Restaurant Owners’ Association, Kapit Tai San Ten Association, Kapit Chiang Chuan Association, Lions Club of Kapit, Kapit Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Hock Leong Ten Temple Lions’ Dance Troupe, SK Methodist, SK Kampung Baru and SJK © Hock Lam which received RM1,000 each.

The Chairlady of United Chinese Association (UCA) Kapit, Sng Geok Yien in her speech thanked Nanta for giving grants to all the 14 participating teams in the last year’s event.

“I would like to thank Nanta for keeping his words to allocate fund for the event. Thus it is appropriate that he is present to hand out the fund tonight,” Sng added.

Among those present at the event held at a restaurant here were Kapit Information Officer Judy Henry Anchangan, Organising Chairman for the dinner Ma Tian Ho, Chairman of Kapit Kwang Tung Association Kong Sien Hua, Chairman of Tai San Ten Association Kong Siau Kui, Chairman of Foochow Association Kapit Sii Bang Ee, Councillor Jenny Yii and some 50 guests.
