KUCHING: Gawai Festival is around the corner, MagnumCares is delighted to help bring festive cheer to the Dayak community in Sarawak, the beautiful Land of the Hornbills.

Gawai Festival is both a religious and social occasion and celebrated annually on 1 and 2 June.

The festival is celebrated as a symbol of unity, aspiration and hope for the Dayak community as well as a thanksgiving day marking a bountiful harvest and a time to plan for the new farming season or other endeavors ahead.

During this auspicious festival, the Dayaks would visit friends and relatives and exchange greetings and good wishes.

This occasion is an integral part of the Dayak community and MagnumCares in Sarawak is happy to celebrate the special occasion with the local folks.

For the 7th consecutive year of celebrating Gawai Festival in Sarawak, MagnumCares continues the annual visit to the Dayak community across East Malaysia.

This year, MagnumCares will present custom-made Bath Towels, T-shirts and Non-woven Bags to 843 members from the longhouses and 568 inmates from the welfare homes.

In total, 1,411 beneficiaries from 17 longhouses and 8 welfare homes will receive RM68,150 worth of angpows, foodstuffs, gift items and cheque donation in ushering the auspicious Gawai Festival.

Ms Beh Swan Swan, Head of Magnum Group CSR said, “MagnumCares Gawai Festival is one of the numerous MagnumCares Programme initiated in support of the local community. We hope with our visits and wishes, we will help generate more awareness to the others to also think of the less fortunate and help in their own way to lift up the spirits of the deserving folks in this auspicious festival; after all “Nobody can do Everything but Everybody can do Something!”

“In essence, during this joyous festive season, Magnum hopes to light up the spirit of the less fortunate and local community to welcome the festival with cheerful smiles and a happy heart. I wish to take this opportunity to wish all our Dayak friends a Happy and Blessed Gawai!”

In the Sarawak state, the MagnumCares Team comprises of employees, sales partners and sales force will be bringing festive cheer to the Dayak community between the period from 18 to 26 May.
