KUCHING: Some 1,500 runners from Kuching, Samarahan and Serian participated in the men’s 5.5 km and women’s 3 km of the Youth Fun Run 2017 at Le’ Park, near Kuching Civic Centre, here, yesterday.
The flag-off was graced by the Minister of Youth, Sports and Solidarity, Datuk Sri Michael Manyin Jawong and assistant minister to the department, Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.
“On behalf of our state government, I would like to thank everyone who joined this event.
“As we all know, today’s youth are our future leaders. The youth of today is the future of tomorrow. Go forward and prepare yourself for challenges because sooner or later, some of you might lead our state and we will be surely depend on you,” he said.
The objective of the event was to promote a healthy lifestyle and strengthen unity among communities. Other activities held were aerobic, busking performing, poco-poco dance, wall climbing, uptown sales, lucky draws and others.
