KUCHING: A total of 157 new students registered Form 1 at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Tabuan Jaya (Sarawak Sports School) for 2018 school session.
The registration process started on Jan 7 and most of the students were from various parts and districts in the state.
Principal of SMK Tabuan Jaya (SSN Sarawak), Edward Ak Ngelai said the new students were selected based on the criteria that focuses on the field of sports they are involved in.
“This group of students includes sports events such as football, sepak takraw, netball, track and field and some other sports (bowling and tennis),” he said. According to Edward, from the total, 93 were male compared to 64 female students.
“Actually, the number of new students exceeds existing (157) people but some of them are on the waiting list,” Edward added. – By Faizal Bujang
