Sibu Resident, Hii Chang Kee revealed this at the annual dinner of Sibu Division Chinese Community Leaders Association held at Li Hua Hotel here on Saturday night. “You can f ind the photos, names, addresses and contact number of all the Chinese community leaders in Sibu District.

“With this information we hope that the Sibu Chinese will enjoy the convenience of knowing and getting help and working together with the community leaders in charge of their respective zones,” he said. Hii went on to congratulate the Sibu Community Leaders Association on the success of its annual general meeting (AGM) for 2017.

He hoped that the AGM would help the association to upgrade its service and also help the member community leaders to serve the people more efficiently.

“I am glad to note that most of the community leaders under the capable leadership of Temenggong Dato Vincent Lau Lee Ming and Pemanca Datuk Wong Kie Yik are positively carrying out their duties. “That includes disseminating government policies, conveying communities’ feedback, coordinating and resolving local issues, certifying government documents and attending official functions. “I urge those community leaders who seldom attend official functions to do so in fulfilling our obligations as per appointment. Let us try our very best to serve the communities and be proud of your high level of efficiency in doing so,” said Hii.

He also called on the community leaders to be well versed with the existing government policies and current issues by attending seminars organised by the Resident and District Offices and the news media. He said that the Sibu Resident and District Offices would continue to organise more seminars to upgrade the knowledge of community leaders on various issues.

“I hope all those community leaders who have not installed Whatsapps or Wechat to do so to communicate more effectively with the authorities and the communities,” Hii added.
