17 suspects nabbed in ‘Ops Lupus’

KUCHING: Police yesterday conducted a joint operation called “Ops Lupus” in collaboration with Celcom, Digi, Maxis, Sacofa and Sarawak Energy in Muara

Tabuan Light Industrial Park where a total of 17 suspects were nabbed.

A number of stolen items including some belonging to the telecommunication service providers were seized. 

Yesterday’s Ops Lupus was part of an aggressive operation launched since Saturday against theft and break-ins in the vicinity of the industrial park.

Those arrested in the joint operation yesterday morning are now being investigated for retaining stolen properties.

Leading the operation was Sarawak Head of Criminan Investigation Department (CID) SAC Denis Leong who said the suspects, aged between 21 and 40, were arrested for house breaking, theft, motorcycle theft, retaining of stolen properties and illegal drug activities. 

The majority of the suspects were found to have previous criminal records. 

Police personnel involved in the joint operations were men and officers from CID Sarawak Contingent Headquarters, IPD Kuching’s CID, Narcotics Department from IPD Kuching and Tabuan Jaya Police Station.
