19 charitable bodies receive RM5,000 each

KUCHING: A total of 19 charity societies received a cheque worth RM5,000 each from Datin Patinggi Dato Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang during SABATI Charity High Tea at the Waterfront Hotel here yesterday.

The Sarawak Badan Amal Tenaga Isteri-Isteri (SABATI) is a charitable organisation whose membership comprises principally of wives of Sarawak State Cabinet Ministers and Assistant Ministers and wives of State Legislative Assemblymen.

“This year, due to the close timing of two major festivals, we have “Gawai-Raya” celebrations and in this special season, we must not forget the less fortunate and those in need in our society,” said the Honorary Secretary of SABATI, Datin Dr Zaliha Abdullah.

She added that SABATI focused on assisting those in need and the less fortunate with particular emphasis on women and children.

The 19 charity societies are Kuching Life Care Society, Mental Health Association of Sarawak, PERYATIM Kuching, PERYATIM Sibu, PERYATIM Bintulu, PERYATIM Miri, PERKATA, Sarawak Society for the Blind – Kuching, Sarawak Society for the Deaf – Kuching, WISHESLAND Kuching, Persatuan Disleksia Sarawak, Pertubuhan Meninggikan Akhlak Che Chuan Khor Sri Aman, Persatuan Untuk Kanak-Kanak Istimewa Sibu, Pusat Perkhidmatan Warga Emas Kapit, Miri Home for the Aged Care Centre, Pusat Perkhidmatan Warga Emas Limbang, Rumah Seri Kenangan Kuching, Rumah Kanak-Kanak Tok Puan Hajah Norkiah and Sarawak Chesire Home Kuching.

Also present were Deputy President of SABATI and Organising Chairperson, Datin Amar Doreen Mayang and Director of Plaza Merdeka Shopping Mall, Datin Anriza Wong Cordero.

Following the handing over of cheques was the presentation of memento to Datin Patinggi Dato Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang by Datin Anriza Wong Cordero.

The guests were then invited to enjoy the feast prepared by the Waterfront Hotel and performances by PDK Sri Satok.
