20 headmasters from Jeli pay courtesy call on Pekema

KUCHING: The Association of Malay Importers and Traders of Motor Vehicles Malaysia (Pekema) Sarawak branch received a courtesy call from 20 representatives of Jeli District Headmaster Council (MGB), Kelantan at its office in Jalan Green here recently.

The delegation was led by Jeli District PPD Head, Haji Idris bin Hamat. Pekema Sarawak Branch deputy president Dato ‘Haji Ismail bin Abang Saufi was also present to welcome the entourage.

In his short speech at the afternoon tea ceremony, Ismail welcomed the delegation and he believed that the relationship between Pekema and MGB would be a stepping stone for both sides to move forward in the future.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to convey our greetings from our president Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Abang Haji Khalid bin Tan Sri Datuk Amar Abang Haji Marzuki who cannot be with us today due to some personal matters,” he said.

Also speaking at the event was the headmaster of Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Jeli 2, Mohamad Rafiai bin Seman who thanked Pekema for helping to provide the MGB delegates with accommodation, food and transport.

“We want to say a big thank you to Pekema for recently donating school backpacks to the needy students in our district. We have already distributed them.

“We hope that the association will continue to contribute to human capital development in our district,” he added.

Also present at the ceremony were Jeli UMNO deputy chief Mohd Bakri Daud and Kenyalang TRW FC president who is also an assistant director of Sarawak Education Department, Anwar Che Seman.

Pekema has 31 members comprising 29 Bumiputera companies and two non-Bumiputera companies.
