MIRI: A total of 215 comprising various species of snakes have been captured by the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) here in Miri since January as of last night.

The most catches involved cobras and pythons where most of the reptiles were captured in the houses of complainants. Officer in-charge of APM Miri District Capt. Mohd Hazle Shah Abdul Hamid said in the latest incident, their men successfully caught a one-metre long cobra in Kampung Luak 4.

“They caught the cobra at 7.37 pm on Monday after receiving a report from a 47-year-old woman who discovered the cobra at the store of her home,” he said in a statement here.

He said his men took about 10 minutes to catch the venomous snake by using special snakecatching equipment. “The snake was then taken back to the APM office for further action,” he said.
