SUNGAI BULOH : Police have found 260 simulator machines believed to be used for gambling in a raid at a store in Sungai Buloh Kampung Baru, Selangor.
Selangor police chief, Datuk Mazlan Mansor said the raid at 8.30am was based on intelligence and viral information on social media sites.
He said from the inspection, it was found the machines were old disused equipment and were not new machines as disseminated via social sites.
“We will get the assistance of the Customs Department to investigate whether all the items were licenced or have valid permits as they could be used by some family entertainment centres,” he told reporters after an inspection at the store.
He, however, said no arrests were made as there was nobody at the store when the raid was conducted.
Mazlan also denied viral allegations that the authorities failed to detect the gambling machines which would be sent to gambling premises nationwide.
Malaysia Crime Watch Task Force (MyWatch) chairman, Datuk R. Sri Sanjeevan yesterday uploaded the status with pictures on Facebook which alleged police failed to detect the store for gambling machines.
Mazlan said even though police welcomed information from public on any gambling activities in Selangor, the people should also ensure the information disseminated were authentic.
According to him, 222 raids had been carried out on gambling machine premises since May this year.- Bernama
