SEBUYAU: Women, Family and Community Development Minister, Dato’ Sri Rohani Abdul Karim, yesterday officiated at the “Selami Kasih YKN 2018” programme organised by Yayasan Kebajikan Negara (YKN) here.
“The “Selami Kasih YKN 2018” programme is a non-cash assistance programme provided by the Social Welfare Department.
“Some of the recipients have never been able to get help from any party and by conducting the search and assistance concept, we have been able to identify them and immediate action will be taken,”Rohani explained.
Under the programme, YKN is distributing basic necessities to 300 recipients in the Batang Lupar parliamentary constituency.
Launched by Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on March 7, 2018, the programme is targetting more than 50,000 recipients nationwide including Sabah and Sarawak. Yesterday, Rohani also handed over assistance to 20 recipients from around Lingga, Maludam and Sebuyau.
Also present at the presentation ceremony were the Director of Planning and Development of the National Welfare Foundation, Nordina Haron and representatives from the Sarawak Social Welfare Department and the Sarawak Women and Family Department.
